Clear Bag Policy Guide: Which Clear Bags Are Stadium-Approved?
Share
Quick answer: Most U.S. stadiums follow a clear bag policy: one bag made of clear plastic, vinyl or PVC no larger than 12 × 6 × 12 inches (or a one-gallon clear freezer bag), plus one small non-clear clutch no larger than 4.5 × 6.5 inches. A clear belt bag like the PHAEVERS PASS (9.5 × 5.5 × 1.5 in) or a 12 × 6 × 12 clear tote like the PHAEVERS ACCESS fits that rule. Larger clear backpacks do not. Always check your specific venue, because concert tours and festivals sometimes set their own limits.
What is the standard stadium clear bag policy?
The clear bag policy has become the template for many stadiums, arenas and college venues. Under it, each fan may bring:
- One clear bag of plastic, vinyl or PVC, no larger than 12 × 6 × 12 inches. Clear backpacks, fanny packs and cinch bags count if they fit within those dimensions; or
- One one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag; plus
- One small non-clear clutch or wallet no larger than 4.5 × 6.5 inches.
Two details people miss: a logo is allowed on only one side of the bag, and buckles, hardware or décor cannot cover any part of it. Medically necessary items are usually allowed after inspection.
Which PHAEVERS clear bags fit the 12 × 6 × 12 rule?
| Bag | Style | Size (inches) | Fits 12 × 6 × 12? | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PASS | Clear belt bag / crossbody | 9.5 W × 5.5 H × 1.5 D | Yes | Phone, wallet, keys, tickets; hands-free |
| ACCESS | Clear tote (TPU) | 12 × 6 × 12 | Yes, at the maximum size | Carrying more: layers, snacks where allowed, baby items |
| GATE | Clear backpack | 12 W × 15 H × 4.25 D | No, 15 in is taller than 12 in | Campuses, workplaces and events with larger clear-bag limits |
Tip: for strict stadiums, choose the fully clear version of the PASS rather than a tinted finish, since some security staff treat tinted bags as non-clear.
What size clear bag is allowed at concerts and festivals?
Many arenas that host concerts use the same 12 × 6 × 12 rule, but tours and festivals often publish their own policy. Some allow larger clear backpacks; some ban backpacks entirely. Look for the “bag policy” or “A–Z guide” on the event or venue website before you go.
Can I bring a smell-proof bag into a stadium?
Usually only as your small clutch, and only if it fits within 4.5 × 6.5 inches. Our carbon-lined bags are not clear and are larger than that, so they do not qualify at venues using the clear bag policy. Leave them in the car or at home on game day.
